【Notice and Requirements for Participants】

To ensure the safety of all participants and the smooth running of the event, please carefully read and adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Registration

  • All participants are requested to arrive early for registration and allow sufficient time to change.
  • If you are unable to arrive on time, do not step onto the mat while practice is in progress. Please wait outside the activity room until the instructor has finished the current demonstration or explanation. You may then step onto the tatami from the right-hand side. Once on the mat, perform a formal bow to the front (Shomen / photo of O Sensei) and wait quietly at the edge. Once the instructor acknowledges you and signals permission, bow to the instructor before formally joining the practice.

2. Dojo Hygiene, Cleanliness and Safty

  • Please do not wear shoes or slippers onto the tatami mats to maintain the cleanliness of the dojo.
  • When moving between the changing rooms and the activity room (dojo), participants must wear slippers. Do not walk barefoot on the bare floor to ensure personal hygiene and keep the tatami clean.
  • Please ensure your fingernails and toenails are neatly trimmed before stepping onto the mat. For the safety of yourself and your training partners, all jewelry and accessories (such as watches, rings, bracelets, earrings, etc.) must be removed.

3. Hydration Breaks

  • The instructor will coordinate and arrange collective hydration breaks during the session based on the class progress and weather conditions.

4. Guidelines for Feeling Unwell

  • If you feel unwell, exhausted, or get injured during practice and need to temporarily leave the tatami, do not simply walk off. Please move to the edge of the mat and signal the instructor. You may step off to rest only after receiving confirmation or a nod from the instructor.

5. Use of Mobile Phones

  • Please switch your mobile phones to silent mode inside the dojo. If you need to answer an urgent call, please step outside the activity room to do so.

6. Photography and Video Recording Policy

  • To ensure participants remain fully focused, private photography, audio, and video recording are strictly prohibited during practice.
  • A group photo session will be arranged at the end of the event.

7. Personal Belongings

  • Please take care of and look after your own personal belongings and valuables. The organizer will not be responsible for any loss.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to training with you on the mats.

Cottier Shihan Memorial Seminar & Embu(6 Jun 2026)

Cottier Shihan made profound contributions to the development of Aikido in Hong Kong and across the region. Many practitioners trained directly under him, while many others were deeply inspired by his passion, dedication, and spirit.
As the founder of the Hong Kong Aikido Association, his legacy continues to shape our community today.

This memorial event is open to members from various dojos and organizations, providing a meaningful opportunity for the wider Aikido community to gather, honor his memory, and carry forward his teachings.

The Memorial Seminar and Embu will be held on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
We warmly invite HKAA members and Aikido practitioners from all dojos to join us in remembrance.
